Day of The Motorcycle
In many cities in Norway we celebrate motorcycles by arranging “Day of the motorcycle”-events. It’s an annual event and different cities have different dates and many motorcyclists will attend several during Spring. People bring their motorcycles and get together for a chat, a coffee and a waffle :)
Like in England, Norway also has a union fighting for motorcyclists’ interests, they usually show up on these events and tell everyone to join and lets everyone know their agenda for the year.
Buuuuut, the real fun is watching all the supercool bikes! It’s always great to see people who have the same bike as you or the bike that you wish you had! Someone will always show up with a beautiful vintage bike or the biggest trike you ever put your eyes on. After you’ve been drooling on all the bikes for a few hours, watched the anti-drag race (to see who can ride a particular stretch as slowly as possible…) everybody ride together to a cafè or something similar. It’s all good fun!
I brought my friend Atle to this event, we didn’t bring our bikes but I’ll definitely bring it next year! Especially since the VN900 wasn’t represented this year – someone’s gotta put in the effort! ;)
