That’s 6.365,3 miles if you’re from the USA.
I finally passed the magic 10.000 KM mark this weekend while doing a 700KM drive to Oslo and back home. Wohoo!
To Illustrate how far 10.000KM really is, here’s a drawing I stole from an article about birds…

Nice to see things in perspective… :)
That’s right, it’s as far as from Alaska to New Zealand! So what’s the status of the bike? Still no breakdowns, nothing to worry about mechanically whatsoever (except for the battery going flat over winter, but that was entirely my own fault as I “forgot” to hook it up to a charger).
My Kawasaki is still going strong! …and I’m looking forward to the next 10.000KM and the next and the next and so forth… :)

In many cities in Norway we celebrate motorcycles by arranging “Day of the motorcycle”-events. It’s an annual event and different cities have different dates and many motorcyclists will attend several during Spring. People bring their motorcycles and get together for a chat, a coffee and a waffle :)
Like in England, Norway also has a union fighting for motorcyclists’ interests, they usually show up on these events and tell everyone to join and lets everyone know their agenda for the year.
Buuuuut, the real fun is watching all the supercool bikes! It’s always great to see people who have the same bike as you or the bike that you wish you had! Someone will always show up with a beautiful vintage bike or the biggest trike you ever put your eyes on. After you’ve been drooling on all the bikes for a few hours, watched the anti-drag race (to see who can ride a particular stretch as slowly as possible…) everybody ride together to a cafè or something similar. It’s all good fun!
I brought my friend Atle to this event, we didn’t bring our bikes but I’ll definitely bring it next year! Especially since the VN900 wasn’t represented this year – someone’s gotta put in the effort! ;)

Same bikes, different styling (left), Mr. and Mrs. on their Harleys? Nice bikes!

The owner’s manual states that the VN900 is designed to use only unleaded petrol with a minimum octane rating of RON 91. Europeans and Australians should use standard unleaded octane 95 though due to difference in petrol labeling from the U.S.
Read more about octane rating on Wikipedia:

It’s been 9 months since I registered this domain name so I guess it’s time to start blogging! I should probably introduce myself, I’m Thomas (I guess you already figured that one out, eh?) I’m a happy owner of a Kawasaki VN900 Classic. It’s my first bike and I bought it in 2007 and have had two absolutely awesome summers riding it. I live in Norway so the motorcycle season is quite short compared to alot of other countries but you can still ride comfortably from April through October. In the winter months the bike is stored in a warm and cozy garage just itching to get back on the road. Last summer I rode my bike to Denmark, Germany and Holland, I’ll post some of the best photos on this blog later. Don’t hesitate to contact me or comment on my posts or correcting me on technical details along the way or if you have a blog that you want featured on my blogroll. Also, if you already own a Vulcan or are interested in Kawasaki motorcycles, you should head over to the Kawasaki Motorcycle Forum, it’s the best forum out there.
