First-Ever Patented Motorcycle From 1894 Sells For £86,200 at Auction

 Hildebrand & Wolfmüller motorcycle

The Hildebrand & Wolfmüller motorcycle is the first-ever motorcycle to be put into production in 1894. The very first one ever produced was found in a barn the United States and has been there for ages but is now sold at an auction in London for £86,200 (US $131.000). It will now be returning to its’ country of origin, Germany, where it’s simply called “motorrad” (“motorcycle” – keep it simple, right?).

Check out the video below for a similar motorcycle produced only 2 years later, in 1896:

Reevu’s MSX1 helmet with built-in rear-view mirror!

Now here’s something new, Reevu’s MSX1 helmet features a built-in rear-view mirror! Reevu calls this the “Vision System”. The helmet relies on an entirely mechanical mechanism rather than rear-view cameras. There’s a small mirror in the front resting just outside the rider’s line of sight.

Oh, and according to WebBikeWorld.com the helmet is also really good at protecting your head ;)

I stumbled upon this awesome sign while browsing through a Kawasaki forum online – how cool is this sign! All Kawasaki owners should have one of these :) A quick search online and you’ll find several similar signs for sale in different online shops, here are some that I found:

The Kawasaki parking only sign on the lower right is my personal favourite, you can get it online  at LowRiders for £19,99 (approx. US$ 31) – if you find it cheaper elsewhere please do make a comment to this post and let everybody in on where we can save a buck :)

Shark: RSI-carbon helmets

Shark RSI-carbon helmet

Shark has released a new helmet series called “RSI-carbon”. The helmet manufacturer are building their new series on the old RSR2-carbon series. The helmet scores 4 stars in the Sharp test (same as the Shark Evoline mentioned in a post last year). The old RSR2-carbon series gets 5 stars in the Sharp test, mind you. Shark promotes its’ new helmet series as an ultra light option where the helmet is  made up of 35% carbon fibers, 35% epoxy resin, 15% aramid fibers and 15% multi axial fibers. The weight is from 1290g to 1360g, depending on the size you need I guess.

The RSI-carbon helmets come in 4 different colours; black, orange, red and white.
